Our Coaching
Roots, and Story
WHY ESC?
If the United States has some of the best athletes in the world, why has it been so difficult to consistently develop elite soccer players for our U.S. National Teams? And why does our current system struggle to produce players who meet true international and senior-level standards?
These questions are not new to us. They are the foundation of ESC.
Our Roots
Our roots are firmly embedded in the metropolitan area. We grew up loving the game in the streets—where creativity was demanded, resilience was learned, and obsession with the ball was unavoidable. As teenagers in the 1990s, we experienced firsthand the challenges of pursuing soccer at a higher level in the United States, long before clear pathways existed.
That journey shaped our philosophy.
The ESC Perspective
Founder and Master Soccer Coach, Jose Hernandez, encountered countless structural, developmental, and cultural obstacles on his path to becoming a starter-level travel soccer coach. Those experiences sparked a question he asked himself more than 25 years ago—and a commitment that followed.
Coach Hernandez dedicated his career to acquiring deep soccer knowledge through education, research, observation, and hands-on player development across multiple environments. ESC was not created quickly; it was built intentionally, informed by decades of lived experience within the U.S. soccer landscape.

Our Philosophy
Before establishing ESC, we studied and evaluated the entire soccer ecosystem—locally, nationally, and internationally.
At ESC, we believe coaching is a privilege. Coaches have a direct influence on a player’s confidence, character, and long-term trajectory—both on and off the field. That responsibility must be earned, respected, and upheld.
